FilmItalia, UniFrance team for
young talent

ROME -- Italian cinema promotion body FilmItalia and French counterpart
UniFrance on Tuesday launched a program aimed at the cross-
development and promotion of young acting talent in both countries.
The launch took place at Rome's historic French embassy in Italy, Palazzo
Farnese, with eight young actors from each country on hand for the event.
"Many of these young actors are going to leave their mark on the business in
the future, and it can only be a good thing for them to get to know each other
and learn from each other now," FilmItalia president Irene Bignardi said in
an interview.
The event was held on the sidelines of the 10-day RomaCinemaFest, which
concludes Saturday.
This is the third year UniFrance has co-sponsored such an initiative, after
last year's joint venture with England announced at the London Film Festival,
and the 2005 initiative with Germany unveiled at the Munich Film Festival.
Bignardi said that Italy is mulling its own version of the program and will
consider establishing its own joint venture with another European country
next year.
